Join our one-day woodturning course, designed for those who may feel uncertain or nervous about woodturning. Similar to the two-day beginner's course, this session provides a focused exploration of the lathe's anatomy, ensuring safe machine use, and mastering the six basic tools. Students will engage in hands-on learning, starting with a practice piece and creating a charming toadstool. The course emphasises fundamental skills, including tool sharpening, tool proficiency, and finishing techniques. Under the guidance of the supportive instructor, Colwin, students will acquire the essential knowledge to improve their woodturning skills. The day's activities include crafting a practice piece and a delightful toadstool, both of which attendees can proudly take home. The course not only delves into tool usage but also covers sharpening techniques, abrasive applications, and diverse finishing methods, providing valuable guidance on when and how to use them effectively. By the end of the course, participants will have the confidence and skills to advance in their woodturning journey.
